My interpretation of a Meme

What is a Meme?

I thought that memes were pictures with words on them.  I wanted to make a picture with words for a post on Facebook.  I googled "how to make a meme".  I found a sight that said "upload image" then prompts for:  What do you want on the top line, what do what on the bottom line. I then downloaded the image and posted it. I was so happy that I had made a meme.

At dinner I told my kids that I had found out how to make a meme.  They asked what I had done and I told them.  Well the laughter of "Mom  you do not have a clue"  could probably be heard a block away.  I was then informed that a meme ("meem" not "me me") is a picture with a poignant saying not just a picture with words. 

I will continue to use make a meme for my pictures with words and I might even make a real meme.
