The other day I was making a double batch of Asphalt Cookies. I made them into balls and froze them and then went to put them in a freezer bag. There were six that did not fit in the bag. So I baked them.
They did not look right and they tasted very bitter. I then realized that I had forgotten to double the sugar.
I then made another batch with extra sugar and combined the two. I then baked some more from this batch and they turned out quite well. So, yes cookies do need the sugar.
