I saw these in a magazine and thought they looked so cute. They can be made in multiple colours and be quite cheery.
I think they would make a great teacher gift
Trying out another new recipe for something I don't really like, I am not a big fan of coffee.
My husband's office has requested Tiramisu for the next Birthday Cake.
I found a recipe it looked fairly straight forward so, sure I can make it.
Here is how it went:
First thing I discovered is that you have to baste the ladyfingers with the espresso before you put them in the pan. I ended up having to pick each one up off the cheese and hold it while is basted it so as not to make the layer mush and then not to get the cheesy stuff all over.
For the second layer of ladyfingers I put them in another pan and basted them there before I put them in the pan.
The second layer went much easier.
I have been checking out shortbread recipes. I am not a big fan or shortbread which is probably why I have not made it before.
I tried two recipes, the first was Vanilla Lemon Shortbread, the second was a traditional Scottish Shortbread. In the picture the Vanilla Lemon is on the left.
When I tried the Vanilla Lemon I was not sure if I liked it.
However, when I try the two together, I prefer the Vanilla Lemon over the traditional Scottish.
I took a trip to Pickering this morning to visit Creative Bag. I needed some pie boxes and thought I would look around and see what they might have for Christmas.
Well, I got some nice snowflake cello bags for cookies.
Some cute boxes for truffles and Almond Crunch.
Also some wrapping paper, ribbons and bags for the annual cookies exchange.
I was up before six this morning making a cake for an early morning meeting.
I got an order this morning for a Strawberry Layer cake for tomorrow
I cannot believe that I have already started baking Christmas cookies. Don't worry people are not ordering them yet, but I need pictures for the web site.
Here are some examples.
I will continue to update my web site and continue to post on facebook as I get things baked. I got a new magazine with some items I would like to try.
Check back for more info.
When I was making the cakes for my nephews birthday I made a mistake with the cake batter. I caught it in time to adjust it to sugar cookies. I had added too much butter.
I ended up with three batches of sugar cookie dough. Big adjustment.
I decided to try out all the shapes in my basket to see how they worked. I excluded the Christmas ones since I know how they work.
Here are the results. My daughter and I were also playing and around and testing out different icings and techniques. The techniques need some practice.
